PWTAG regularly reviews both interesting and dangerous incidents at pools. The group's active involvement, if any, is usually behind the scenes. Incidents over the last few years have included:

  • cryptosporidiois outbreaks, inlcuding in spas
  • ‘hot tub lung’ (Mycobacterium avium)
  • explosions and chlorine gas release
  • outbreaks caused by E coli 0157
  • underwater cameras
  • filter and air dulling system explosions
  • pool outlet entrapment
  • bulk storage of disinfectant
  • excessive levels of free chlorine in the pool
  • shells in filter sand
  • tiling and screed failures following sulphuric acid use
  • trichlor plus caustic soda problems
  • high combined chlorine contributing to impaired lung function
  • Legionella in spas and showers.
