PWTAG regularly reviews both interesting and dangerous incidents at pools. The group's active involvement, if any, is usually behind the scenes.

During 2005 and 2006, incidents included:

  • methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus areus
  • cryptosporidiois outbreaks
  • ‘hot tub lung’ (Mycobacterium avium)
  • explosions (including a roof blown off)
  • chlorine gas release
  • visibility problems with dark blue pool lining
  • stress corrosion cracking in screws
  • open-air fresh-water bathing
  • outbreaks caused by E coli 0157
  • red dye and goldfish tipped into a pool by a disgruntled lifeguard
  • underwater cameras
  • filter explosion
  • pool outlet entrapment
  • bulk storage of disinfectant.
