PWTAG currently incorporates 12 member organisations; they finance PWTAG and have voting rights in the election of officers. There are also 12 individuals appointed as technical advisers to provide specialist help – most identified with particular organisations.

Since the beginning of 2005 PWTAG has gained the membership of two organisations – the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers and the Swimming Teachers Association – and lost the membership of one, Wrc-NSF. The role of the Health & Safety Executive within PWTAG is being re-negotiated currently

At the 2005 AGM, Ralph Riley completed his very successful five-year term in the chair and was succeeded by Howard Gosling. Stephen Carder was elected honorary treasurer. The only paid officer is the part-time technical secretary, Brian Guthrie.
Meetings

PWTAG has four full meetings a year (the June meeting is preceded by the AGM) plus many meetings where smaller groups direct research and publishing. The minutes of all meetings are confidential to members and advisers, but a slightly shorter Account is also produced of the four main meetings, for wider circulation within member organisations.

Group public protocol

In general, members and technical advisers must restrict themselves, in public comment associated with the Group's work, to their specialist areas. In public statements about the Group's view, they must solely and accurately reflect what the Group has formally decided and what it has published. Where possible, such statements are to be approved by the chair. Where personal or commercial views are expressed, it is not implied that they represent the Group's position.
