Early fundamental guidelines on using sodium hypochlorite in swimming pools

In the late 1970s, Andy Elphick wrote a technical paper on The Treatment of Swimming Pool Water With Sodium Hypochlorite, which was distributed by Wallace and Tiernan to UK pools.

The paper was written as a consequence of the phasing out of gaseous chlorine and the change to other forms of chlorine.

It provided guidance on how to convert a pool from chlorine gas to sodium hypochlorite, the differences involved and the consequences.

This was a change that many managers still regret and upon which Andy cautioned due consideration to ensure success.
