The UK’s first Passivhaus swimming pool

Exeter City Council are currently developing the UK’s first Passivhaus swimming pool.

The new £35m Passivhaus swimming pool and leisure complex is anticipated to save the council £200,000 a year in energy costs in comparison to a conventional swimming pool design.

It is also believed that this will be the first swimming pool to use a process called ‘microfiltration’. This is the process which achieves exceptional filtration efficiency by forcing the water through a ceramic membrane which uses reduced energy and less water than traditional sand filters.

The leisure centre is expected to be opened in spring 2021
